Boone Putney is Co-founder and trainer at CrossFit Austin. Boone has pursued a life-long love of sports from Basketball and Lacrosse to Wakeboarding and Rock-climbing, and nearly everything in-between. Boone is a CrossFit Level-I certified trainer and is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
A Message from Boone:
Sports, Fitness, and Health have always been passions of mine, and I had tried every training program under the sun. CrossFit brought the three together in a combination that made sense and just plain worked. I saw incredible results in my own CrossFit training, but it wasn’t until I started using CrossFit to train others, that I was truly blown away by the results that the program can achieve. I love the community/family we’ve built at CrossFit Austin. Going to the gym daily and watching people sweat, laugh, strive, and progress makes everyday worthwhile.

Tristy “Mac” Stephens
Bio:
Tristy is Crossfit Level I and Crossfit Nutrition certified. She rowed for Lake Lanier Rowing club for 4 years during high school and then went on to row for Armstrong Atlantic State University.
A Message from Tristy:
My passion for fitness and nutrition is the reason I wake up in the mornings!
I have always enjoyed being active and have wanted to be able to do something with my life that would help improve other people’s lives. It wasn’t until I was introduced to Crossfit in October of 2008 that I found a way to do that. I am extremely passionate about helping people improve their self image and helping them realize what they are truly capable of. I think there are a lot of people in the world who do not know what they are capable of, and they go through life accepting the funk that they are in. I refuse to let people settle for being less than they can be. I’ve seen what people can do when they are given the tools and instruction they need. It takes some folks longer or a little more hard work than others, but in the end, they succeed! There is nothing more rewarding for me than watching someone finally reach a goal that they have sacrificed and worked hard to reach.
I feel truly blessed to be a part of the Crossfit Austin family and such an inspirational community. It is tremendously exciting and humbling to have the opportunity to coach some of the most outstanding individuals I’ve had the pleasure of meeting!

Chad Vaughn
Bio:
Chad Vaughn is an Olympic-Style Weightlifting Specialist. He is a 2-time Olympian, 7-time National Champion, and an American Record Holder in that sport. This type of Weightlifting is a proven Rock in improving overall athletic ability and is a tool that is utilized throughout CrossFit.
A Message From Chad:
As I have traveled the world in competition, I have taken the time to study the worlds best of the best in many different sports. Yes, their training methods and daily routines leading up to and during competition; but more than just that; as in the end there are many, many different methods and philosophies that will lead to improvement. I began to wonder; What did all these people have in common? It was simply that they ALL stuck with something, didn’t give up when things went wrong, persevered and became better for it, and SIMPLY showed up. SIMPLY showing up is MOST of the battle. If you want to improve and see how good you can be, in any sport or in your daily life, and want to meet whatever goal(s) you may have, then I challenge you to just SHOW UP; show up right here at CrossFit Austin where the Trainers know how to succeed!
“Success is largely a matter of holding on after others have let go.”

Walker Fenz
Bio:
Walker began her athletic career at an early age as a competitive gymnast, capping it off with a run on the University of Texas Women’s Gymnastics team. Lost in kickboxing, step, and dance classes for years after, Walker eventually stumbled on CrossFit and fell in love. She has been crossFitting since June of 2009, and holds a CrossFit Level-1 Trainer Certification. (She can still be found hanging upside down on the rings or doing cartwheels however, and also holds a CrossFit Gymnastics Certification.)
A Message From Walker:
Whether you have been Crossfitting for one year or one week, each day presents a new challenge that encourages you to do things you never thought possible. While it is definitely the most physically challenging activity I’ve ever done (yup, even scarier then doing flips on a balance beam! it is the mental aspect that makes it so special. Crossfit is a very unique – and very effective – way to improve your physical heath, but it’s how you grow mentally that provides such tremendous value to your life outside the gym. And you don’t have to go at it alone: When you don’t think you’re ‘strong’ enough, there is always an amazing group of people around you to lift you up. On the flip side, being an integral part of others’ growth is such an incredible experience.
Crossfit has enriched my own live in such an empowering way, I’m passionate about supporting others through their own adventure. Every day in the gym is a gift.

Rob Wykoff is a Crossfit Level – I Certified Trainer. He has been involved in athletics since childhood and has always been a highly active individual. Rob’s fitness interests began with high school sports and continued through college filled with 5K’s to Marathons and any outdoor activity imaginable. Although Rob has participated in many fitness activities, he was left with the feeling that there were serious gaps in his physical fitness. This gap was bridged when he was introduced to Crossfit in 2008, and has been drinking the kool-aid ever since. He strives to constantly learn and improve himself in order to become a better coach and athlete. Rob is constantly amazed at the wealth of knowledge Crossfit Austin members bring to gym and how much he learns from them.
A Message from Rob:
Whether you are an elite athlete, a fitness enthusiast, or a “couch potato” you will find a new and exciting means to reach your goals at CFA. I thought I knew what it took to be in shape; but, to quote royalty, “my life got flipped – turned upside down” after my first Crossfit WOD in 2008. Through my many fitness activities I have noticed that many people participate and endure their sports alone. It is my passion to be a part of a group of individuals working together to enhance one another’s capabilities. I feel an incredible sense of excitement when I see those around me break through personal limitations and find their inner strength.

Leigh LeGare
Bio:
Leigh has an impressive background in sports and began building a reputation for herself as a high school athlete playing basketball for the number one team in the nation (Copperas Cove High School, Copperas Cove, TX). She furthered her success in basketball as one of the leading rebounders in her conference and lettered all four years at Grove City College in Grove City, PA. Leigh’s career as an athlete didn’t stop after college. She tried out and made the D.C. Diva’s women’s professional football team. During this time, Leigh worked part time as a personal trainer while teaching at an inner city high school in Washington D.C. She also coached the J.V. girls’ basketball team to a district championship. Leigh’s passion for teaching others coupled with her love of fitness and coaching, helped her decide to leave her teaching career and pursue a full-time career within the health and fitness industry. This transition allowed Leigh to start her career performing exercise based therapy for people with spinal cord injuries helping them accomplish things they never thought imaginable. Leigh is ACE and CPR certified and holds a CrossFit Level 1 certification.
A Message from Leigh:
As I became more invested in motivating others to lead healthier lifestyles, my personal motivation in this area had become stagnant and my overall health and fitness was deteriorating. I did one CrossFit workout in March 2010 and immediately fell in love. Not only did it fuel my competitive nature but it but brought a sense of community that I had been missing since playing college basketball. As I embraced everything CrossFit had to offer, I wanted to share this passion with others. Crossfit has given me an inner drive and commitment to a lifetime of fitness and is what propels my desire to see others reach their fullest potential. Having the opportunity to coach for CrossFit Austin intensifies this desire as I am surrounded by people who exceed their expectations they have for themselves on a daily basis. They don’t just embrace who they are or how far they’ve come, they OWN it!
